There was an old house at the end of Willow Street. Everyone in town said it was haunted. The windows were broken, and the roof had holes. At night, people sometimes saw strange lights inside.
Tom and his friends, Mia and Jake, wanted to be brave. It was Halloween night, and they decided to go into the house. “Let’s go in for ten minutes,” Jake said. “Then we can tell everyone we were not afraid!”
They opened the rusty gate and walked to the door. The door made a loud creak when they pushed it. Inside, it was dark and cold. The floor was covered with dust, and the air smelled old.
Suddenly, they heard something upstairs — footsteps! “Maybe it’s just the wind,” Tom said, but he didn’t sound sure. Then a picture fell from the wall. Mia screamed.
They went up the stairs slowly. At the end of the hall, they saw a small room. Inside, they found an old toy — a teddy bear with one eye. Then the door closed behind them. Their flashlights went off.
In the dark, they heard a small voice say, “You found my bear… now stay with me.”
The next morning, the house was quiet again. Only three flashlights were outside the door.
